All that matters at the bargain store when you are young. Visited the old neighborhood in Bklyn – not much familiar or recognizable anymore. As I walked through the streets it felt so cold compared to how it felt as a child. Gentrification can do that. Less family types, more single professionals. This one bargain store, which was completely different inside, held special memories. I think we’d go there almost everyday for something. Candy, loose leaf paper, slippers, frying pans, Halloween costumes… we were always in there. I miss the old Brooklyn – kids running, old men playing dominoes in the corner, and some people would come home dirty from a day’s work yet they were happy… they could still afford take their kids to a ballgame. Everything changes, right? This is progress, right?
